Fremantle have cleared star Hayden Young of any injury concerns as the Dockers could have every single player on their list to choose from ahead of their Gold Coast clash.
The Dockers are hoping to atone for their heartbreaking elimination finals defeat last season and extend their record winning streak to 14 straight games when they face the Suns on Sunday at Optus Stadium.
Fremantle were already in rude health after welcoming back Caleb Serong, Brennan Cox and Matthew Johnson for their clash against Geelong and have cleared Hayden Young of any concerns after he limped off before returning in the win over the Cats.
“He went out back and played, and the knees all good,” director of performance Adam Beard said.
It comes as luckless forward Sam Sturt is closing in on a playing return, having dealt with a calf issue following his rehab from an ACL injury sustained last year.
“Sturty has done a fantastic job in his rehab. He’s hit a lot of milestones back in footy, so he’ll be a test.”
If Sturt is cleared for a return, it would mean every player on Fremantle’s list would be available, creating an enviable selection squeeze for the dominant ladder leaders.
Beard credited the bye, which coincided with a run of three straight games in WA, meaning they have not left the state this month and played just one game in 21 days, for allowing them to refresh the playing group for the second half of the season.
“The schedule has given us a good opportunity to get some solid loads into the players, but also to give them an opportunity to refresh and regenerate,” he said.
“They’ve done really well, and we’ve had really good buy-in from the playing group.”
