A Bunnings store in the South West has been rated one of the best in Australia — while a Perth Hills outlet has been savaged by shoppers who complain of narrow aisles, empty shelves and leaving empty-handed.
Australind Bunnings has been crowned the second best-rated store in the nation, scoring an impressive 4.46 stars from 871 Google reviews.
But it is a different story at Kalamunda, which has been ranked WA’s worst Bunnings — and the sixth worst in Australia — with an average rating of just 3.85 stars from 377 reviews.
One Australind shopper was impressed by the store’s range, despite its smaller size.
“Little smaller than the big city shops but it had everything I needed for a small Reno down south,” they wrote.
A Kalamunda customer was considerably less impressed.
“Great place if you can walk sideways like a crab down the narrow aisles to then walk out empty handed as there is nothing in stock,” they wrote.
The rankings, compiled by web SEO experts at seobacklinks.com, analysed Google reviews for Bunnings stores across Australia.
Researchers examined 306 stores with at least 200 reviews, analysing more than 482,000 ratings collected on October 20.
They calculated each store’s precise average rating using its individual one to five-star reviews, rather than relying on the rounded score displayed by Google.
WA’s 38 ranked stores averaged 4.21 stars, level with the national average.
After Australind, Baldivis (4.37), Joondalup (4.36) and Halls Head (4.35) were the State’s highest-rated stores.
Joondalup shoppers were particularly impressed with the range, with one declaring: “Massive range, if they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist.”
At the other end of the rankings Willetton (3.97) and East Victoria Park (4.02) were the next lowest-rated WA stores, followed by Osborne Park (4.06).
One Willetton shopper was particularly scathing: “Worst Bunnings they have no stock whatsoever.”
Other complaints included stock shortages at East Victoria Park and Osborne Park, parking difficulties at Claremont and long queues at Maddington.

Oliver Weston, founder of seobacklinks.com, said the reviews showed how much the shopping experience could vary between stores carrying the same name.
“Bunnings is a weekend habit for a lot of Australians, so people notice when their local store falls short,” he said.
“At the bottom of the list, reviewers say the store is too small, the item they came for is out of stock or nobody answers the phone.
“At the top, they talk about full shelves, easy parking and staff who help carry heavy loads to the car.”
Bunnings stores in Tasmania had the highest average rating of any State at 4.30, while WA’s 4.21 matched the national average.
The country’s highest-rated store was Newstead in Brisbane, with 4.47 stars from 2909 reviews.
The lowest-rated was Randwick in Sydney, with 3.70 stars from 1189 reviews.
