The University of Maryland is firing head coach Mike Locksley, sources told OutKick.
The Terrapins have lost five straight games after winning each of their first two of the season over Hampton and UConn, most recently losing to Rutgers at home this past weekend.
Locksley was brought on in an interim basis in 2015 after spending three seasons but was then out of the program until 2019. With the Terps, he was 39-54.

Locksley initially turned the program around, as he went 3-9 in his first full season and then went over .500 in each season from 2021 to 2023. However, since then, the Terps are 10-21.
This time last season, seven coaches had already been fired, but Locksley is the first this year. As part of the buyout, Maryland will owe Locksley $4.9 million in a 60-day window.

He will be replaced by defensive coordinator Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, who will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season, the source added.
Locksley’s first head-coaching gig came with New Mexico in 2009, where he spent three seasons and went 2-26. He did not land a head-coaching gig until his interim post four years later.
