The San Diego Padres came into this game as one of the hottest teams in baseball. We saw the Red Sox get eliminated in the Wild Card round, but the Padres’ success carried over essentially from the All-Star Break until now. They struck first in Game 1, but couldn’t hold on.

Against starter Jacob Misiorowski, they were able to string together a few hits and tough plays for the Brewers to net two runs. Overall, the Padres have to feel good about how they performed against the likely Cy Young winner, but couldn’t pull it out.
The Brewers seem like they don’t ever sweat, unless they are playing the Dodgers. The team was down 2-0 in the second with their ace on the hill. He was laboring a bit, but got out of any threat, and then the offense came to life in the third inning.
Jackson Chourio, one of the best stories of the year, hit a rocket to center and tied the game with a 2-run home run. This seemed to give Misiorowski and the Brewers new life. There was really no offense to speak of on either side for the next few innings. In the bottom of the seventh, William Contreras hit a solo shot that gave the Padres the lead, and ultimately the game.
