A man has been charged after he allegedly pointed a laser at a patrolling police helicopter in Sydney overnight.
The Polair aircraft was patrolling Western Sydney just after 7pm on Friday when it was struck by a high powered laser light pointed at it, forcing the crew on board to take action to minimise impact.

NSW Police say the Polair with the assistance of officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command tracked the laser to a home on Richard Road in Wakeley where a 64-year old man was arrested on site.
The 64-year old was taken to Cabramatta Police Station, where he was charged with do act to threaten safety of aircraft/persons on board, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was granted conditional bail before he appeared in front of Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday May 13.
