Rosie O’Donnell credited President Donald Trump for her re-discovered fame on Tuesday as the White House continued to call the actress and former co-host of “The View” “obsessed.”
“I feel like recently I’m re-famous. That’s what I feel. I told my kids, well kids, hold on ’cause mommy’s re-famous. I don’t know how it happened. I think it’s Mango Mussolini,” O’Donnell told “Good Hang” host Amy Poehler, referring to Trump. “I think it’s him who did it. He didn’t know. If he knew how much he was helping my career and my life, he would shut up about me because, you know, he’s a horrible creature.”
O’Donnell and the president have traded barbs over the years, as the comedian remains one of Trump’s fiercest critics. She moved to Ireland after Trump’s 2024 election victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The comedian has appeared on multiple podcasts and shows, and she is set to guest host Jimmy Kimmel’s show for a week beginning next week.

The White House pointed Fox News Digital to one of Trump’s Truth Social posts from June 6.
The post shows four images of O’Donnell with Trump appearing in thought bubbles near her head. The caption says O’Donnell “is obsessed.”
O’Donnell recently claimed that she and Trump’s decades-long feud has gone on in part because of their shared roots.

“There have been so many comedians who have said things about him, but I am from the same area that he’s from,” she told Variety in July.
She and Trump were born and raised in New York, and O’Donnell said that people occasionally tell her that they sound alike, “which is probably the worst thing that you can say to me.”

“But I think I’m one of those tough girls from elementary school and junior high that said to him, ‘Shut the hell up! You’re not playing with us. Get out of here, you freakin’ idiot!’ And he never got past it. I think I trigger him like a PTSD response of all his failures in his life as a kid.”
She theorized that she reminds Trump “of the girls who said, ‘You’re nothing,’ and it scares him.”
O’Donnell made similar comments this week on Sophia Bush’s “Work in Progress” podcast. When Bush said that Trump is “obsessed” with her, she agreed and said Trump “grew up with girls like me — tough, probably gay Irish girls who didn’t take s— from no stupid rich boy wannabe.”
O’Donnell also signaled she would be returning to ABC’s “The View” for a 30th anniversary episode in the upcoming season after detailing a tense moment with host and moderator Whoopi Goldberg.

The show’s producer, Brian Teta, posted on X that no official invites for the anniversary had gone out, appearing to refute O’Donnell.

“We love seeing all the excitement about The View’s 30th, lots of plans are in the works, but no invites have gone out,” he wrote.
