A murder suspect accused of stabbing and killing a transit worker outside a train station in a daytime attack allegedly had prior run-ins with the law.
Chevazz Campbell, 37, is accused of stabbing and killing Julian Mobley, 41, a husband and father who worked for the Chicago Transit Authority as a janitor, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
It happened at the Damen Green Line station just before 3 p.m. Thursday.

Campbell allegedly stabbed Mobley in his neck after the two got into an argument when the suspect entered the station through the gate without paying.

This was after Campbell allegedly sprayed Mobley in the face twice with mace, prosecutors said, according to FOX 32.

Authorities said Campbell was on electronic monitoring and had at least four probation violations filed against him “over curfew violations” at the time of the horrific attack, FOX 32 reported.

Chicago Police confirmed to Fox News Digital that Campbell also allegedly robbed the victim and was arrested hours after the attack.

In a statement, the Amalgamated Transit Union said in part: “ATU Local 308 Brother Julian Mobley, a CTA Janitor, was tragically killed while trying to stop an attack on a fellow member over a fare dispute. He died a hero.”

Campbell is facing charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery and felon in possession of a weapon.
